About today

Simon the Cananean and Jude (Thaddeus) are named among the Twelve. Little else is recorded; the Church honors them together on 28 October as apostles sent, not as biographies we can fill in. Jude’s short letter urges the beloved to contend for the faith once delivered, without becoming quarrelsome. Their feast is a feast of the unnamed labor of apostles. Ask today for fidelity in obscurity, and for a heart that will remain when the story of our lives is known only to God.

Psalm

In you, Lord, I have hoped; let me never be confounded. In your justice, deliver me. Incline your ear to me. Hasten to rescue me. Be for me a protector God and a house of refuge, so as to accomplish my salvation. For you are my strength and my refuge; and for the sake of your name, you will lead me and nourish me. You will lead me out of this snare, which they have hidden for me. For you are my protector. Into your hands, I commend my spirit. You have redeemed me, O Lord, God of truth.

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
