About today
Thérèse of Lisieux (1873–1897) entered Carmel young and died of tuberculosis at twenty-four. Her “little way” was not childishness: it was confidence in the Father, hidden fidelity, and love offered in small things. Named Doctor of the Church, she is patron of missions though she never left her cloister. The memorial is 1 October. She promised to spend her heaven doing good on earth; the Church takes that as a sister’s word. Ask today for a holiness that does not wait for a great stage, and for trust when God seems silent.
Original – Prayer on Fire.
