Week 30 of Ordinary Time

Feast of Saints Simon and Jude, Apostles

Wednesday, October 28, 2026

Today’s verse

About today

Simon the Cananean and Jude (Thaddeus) are named among the Twelve. Little else is recorded; the Church honors them together on 28 October as apostles sent, not as biographies we can fill in. Jude’s short letter urges the beloved to contend for the faith once delivered, without becoming quarrelsome. Their feast is a feast of the unnamed labor of apostles. Ask today for fidelity in obscurity, and for a heart that will remain when the story of our lives is known only to God.

Scripture

Office of Readings

Ephesians 2:19–22

Now, therefore, you are no longer visitors and new arrivals. Instead, you are citizens among the saints in the household of God, having been built upon the foundation of the Apostles and of the Prophets, with Jesus Christ himself as the preeminent cornerstone. In him, all that has been built is framed together, rising up into a holy temple in the Lord. In him, you also have been built together into a habitation of God in the Spirit.
