Solemnity · Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe

About today

On the last Sunday of the liturgical year the Church confesses Christ as King: not a slogan of earthly power, but the crucified and risen Lord before whom the nations will be gathered. His kingdom is justice, love, and peace; it is not from this world, yet it claims this world. Ask today to belong to that kingdom more than to our smaller loyalties, and to see the least of his brothers and sisters as the place where the King still waits.

Original – Prayer on Fire.

Verse of the day

When the Son of man will have arrived in his majesty, and all the Angels with him, then he will sit upon the seat of his majesty. And all the nations shall be gathered together before him. And he shall separate them from one another, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats.

Matthew 25:31–32
