Feast · Our Lady of Guadalupe
About today
In 1531, at Tepeyac, the Virgin appeared to Saint Juan Diego and left her image on his tilma. Our Lady of Guadalupe, patroness of the Americas, is honored on 12 December as Mother who speaks to the small and gathers a people. The feast in Advent is a sign that the Incarnation is already leaning toward the poor. Ask today for a Church of the Americas that hears the lowly, and for a Mother who still arranges roses in winter.
Original – Prayer on Fire.
Verse of the day
In those days, Mary, rising up, traveled quickly into the hill country, to a city of Judah. And she entered into the house of Zechariah, and she greeted Elizabeth.
Luke 1:39–40
