Opening

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Hymn

Jesus shall reign where’er the sun Does his successive journeys run; His kingdom spread from shore to shore, Till moons shall wax and wane no more.

Isaac Watts (1674–1748); first published 1719. Public domain.

The reading

Pause in the middle of the day. Read slowly, as if someone were speaking to you.

No Gospel is published for this date.

Exodus 33:12–17

Then Moses said to the Lord: “You instruct me to lead this people away, and you do not reveal to me whom you will send with me, particularly since you have said: ‘I know you by name, and you have found favor before me.’ If, therefore, I have found favor in your sight, show your face to me, so that I may know you and may find grace before your eyes. Look favorably on your people, this nation.” And the Lord said, “My face will precede you, and I will give you rest.” And Moses said: “If you will not yourself precede us, then do not lead us away from this place. For how will we be able to know, I and your people, that we have found grace in your sight, unless you walk with us, so that we may be glorified out of all the people who live upon the earth?” Then the Lord said to Moses: “This word also, which you have spoken, I will do. For you have found grace before me, and I have known you by name.”

Reflection

Is there a word or picture you would like to keep with you?

What would you like to tell Jesus?

Silence

Rest here for a minute. Let the reading settle.

Psalm

Psalm 62 (61):2

Ant. Steady me, Jesus, when the day pulls me in ten directions.

Will my soul not be subject to God? For from him is my salvation.

Ant. Steady me, Jesus, when the day pulls me in ten directions.

Today’s lesson from Jesus

Intentions

Add your own personal intentions

  1. Shared by the community

For Mary and Dewey as they prepare for their upcoming wedding, may the Holy Spirit be with them and help grow their love for one another through Holy Matrimony.

    R. Lord, have mercy.

  2. Prayer on Fire intention

For Christians who suffer for your name, give courage, and give us the grace not to forget them.

    R. Lord, have mercy.

  3. Prayer on Fire intention

Where attention frays, gather us; where we are sharp, cool us; keep this ordinary hour near the Cross.

    R. Lord, have mercy.

Closing

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Father, the day is half spent, and we have not done all we hoped. Give us peace with what is done, and strength for what remains. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
