Mark 6:30–34
And the Apostles, returning to Jesus, reported to him everything that they had done and taught. And he said to them, “Go out alone, into a deserted place, and rest for a little while.” For there were so many who were coming and going, that they did not even have time to eat. And climbing into a boat, they went away to a deserted place alone. And they saw them going away, and many knew about it. And together they ran by foot from all the cities, and they arrived before them. And Jesus, going out, saw a great multitude. And he took pity on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd, and he began to teach them many things.

My soul has clung close to you. Your right hand has supported me.

Today’s lesson from Jesus
The mustard seed
And he said: “To what should we compare the kingdom of God? Or to what parable should we compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed which, when it has been sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds which are in the earth. And when it is sown, it grows up and becomes greater than all the plants, and it produces great branches, so much so that the birds of the air are able to live under its shadow.”
Mark 4:30–32

Where we are weary, give strength; where we are hurried, give presence; where we have failed in love, give us a way to begin again.
R. Lord, hear our prayer.
Closing
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
Lord, free us from putting you off until the work is finished. You are the beginning of the work and its rest. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
