Luke 24:28–35
And they drew near to the town where they were going. And he conducted himself so as to go on further. But they were insistent with him, saying, “Remain with us, because it is toward evening and now daylight is declining.” And so he entered with them. And it happened that, while he was at table with them, he took bread, and he blessed and broke it, and he extended it to them. And their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And he vanished from their eyes. And they said to one another, “Was not our heart burning within us, while he was speaking on the way, and when he opened the Scriptures to us?” And rising up at that same hour, they returned to Jerusalem. And they found the eleven gathered together, and those who were with them, saying: “In truth, the Lord has risen, and he has appeared to Simon.” And they explained the things that were done on the way, and how they had recognized him at the breaking of the bread.

Psalm
Psalm 42 (41):9
Ant. Let the day end the way it began, Jesus: with your mercy and my thanks.
In the daylight, the Lord has ordered his mercy; and in the night, a canticle to him. With me is a prayer to the God of my life.
Ant. Let the day end the way it began, Jesus: with your mercy and my thanks.
Today’s lesson from Jesus
The sower
“Listen. Behold, the sower went out to sow. And while he was sowing, some fell along the way, and the birds of the air came and ate it. Yet truly, others fell upon stony ground, where it did not have much soil. And it rose up quickly, because it had no depth of soil. And when the sun was risen, it was scorched. And because it had no root, it withered away. And some fell among thorns. And the thorns grew up and suffocated it, and it did not produce fruit. And some fell on good soil. And it brought forth fruit that grew up, and increased, and yielded: some thirty, some sixty, and some one hundred.” And he said, “Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.”
