Prayer on Fire Gospel Lesson
The Pharisees ask when the kingdom is coming. He says it is not coming in ways that can be observed. The kingdom of God is in the midst of you. Then he tells the disciples the days are coming when they will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and will not. Do not go out after the ones who say look here. First he must suffer and be rejected.
Where this sits
The feast of Josaphat reads this. The question is a demand for a timetable.
Not a spectacle
The kingdom is not a show you can point to. It is already in their midst, in him. The days of longing will come, and the answer to the false sightings is his suffering. The kingdom arrives through rejection, not through a visible takeover.
What to take
Stop looking for a sign you can schedule. He is the midst of it. The way to the day is through his rejection.
