Opening

Lord, open my lips. And my mouth will proclaim your praise.

Psalm I

Antiphon

I wait for your voice more than watchmen for the dawn.

Psalm 24 (23):7–10

Catholic Public Domain Version (public domain)

Psalm

Lift up your gates, you princes, and be lifted up, eternal gates. And the King of Glory shall enter. Who is this King of Glory? The Lord who is strong and powerful; the Lord powerful in battle. Lift up your gates, you princes, and be lifted up, eternal gates. And the King of Glory shall enter. Who is this King of Glory? The Lord of virtue. He himself is the King of Glory.

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Antiphon

I wait for your voice more than watchmen for the dawn.

First Reading

Hosea 11:1–4

Catholic Public Domain Version (public domain)

Just as the morning passes, so has the king of Israel passed by. For Israel was a child and I loved him; and out of Egypt I called my son. They called them, and so they departed before their face. They offered victims to the Baals, and they sacrificed to graven images. And I was like a foster father to Ephraim. I carried them in my arms. And they did not know that I healed them. I will draw them with the cords of Adam, with the bands of love. And I will be to them like one who raises the yoke over their jaws. And I will reach down to him so that he may eat.

For Mary and Dewey as they prepare for their upcoming wedding, may the Holy Spirit be with them and help grow their love for one another through Holy Matrimony.

R. Speak, Lord, we are listening.

For this First Light, that praise may be our first work.

R. Speak, Lord, we are listening.

Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Closing prayer

Holy Spirit, seal the Word we have heard. Go with us into the untried hours, and teach us to love as we have been loved. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
