Solemnity · The Nativity of the Lord
About today
The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Christmas is not an idea about love; it is a Child laid in a manger because there was no room. The solemnity of the Nativity holds the humility of God and the dignity of our flesh, given in a place we would not have chosen for a king. Night, straw, and a Name. Ask today for a heart with room, and for the grace to kneel without embarrassment before the poverty of God.
Original – Prayer on Fire.
Verse of the day
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and God was the Word. He was with God in the beginning. All things were made through Him, and nothing that was made was made without Him.
John 1:1–3
