Opening

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Hymn

Now the day is over, Night is drawing nigh; Shadows of the evening Steal across the sky.

Sabine Baring-Gould (1834–1924); first published 1865. Public domain.

The reading

Set the day down. Let this reading be the last word you hear before you rest.

No Gospel is published for this date.

Micah 7:18–20

What God is like you, who takes away iniquity and passes over the sin of the remnant of your inheritance? No longer will he send forth his fury, because he is willing to be merciful. He will turn back and have mercy on us. He will put away our iniquities, and he will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea. You will give the truth to Jacob, mercy to Abraham, which you swore to our fathers from the ancient days.

Reflection

Is there a line you would like to read again?

What would you like to tell Jesus?

Silence

Be quiet for a minute. Let Jesus have the last of the day.

Psalm

Psalm 127 (126):2

Ant. Teach me to rest, Jesus, as someone you love.

It is in vain that you rise before daylight, that you rise up after you have sat down, you who chew the bread of sorrow. Whereas, to his beloved, he will give sleep.

Ant. Teach me to rest, Jesus, as someone you love.

Today’s lesson from Jesus

Blessed are the merciful

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy.

Matthew 5:7

Where do these words meet your day?

Intentions

Add your own personal intentions

  1. Shared by the community

For Mary and Dewey as they prepare for their upcoming wedding, may the Holy Spirit be with them and help grow their love for one another through Holy Matrimony.

    R. Speak, Lord, we are listening.

  2. Prayer on Fire intention

Into your hands we give this night, those we love, and all we cannot finish. Guard us as we rest.

    R. Speak, Lord, we are listening.

  3. Prayer on Fire intention

If we take any bitterness toward the bed, take it from us. Give a clean heart and a child’s sleep.

    R. Speak, Lord, we are listening.

Closing

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Good Shepherd, we are the sheep who wandered today. Find us, carry us, and bring us home to rest. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
