Opening

Lord, open my lips. And my mouth will proclaim your praise.

Antiphon

In the stillness, kindle understanding and love.

Psalm 30 (29):2–5

Catholic Public Domain Version (public domain)

Psalm

I will extol you, Lord, for you have sustained me, and you have not allowed my enemies to delight over me. O Lord my God, I have cried out to you, and you have healed me. Lord, you led my soul away from Hell. You have saved me from those who descend into the pit. Sing a psalm to the Lord, you his saints, and confess with remembrance of his holiness.

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Antiphon

In the stillness, kindle understanding and love.

First Reading

Wisdom 1:1–7

Catholic Public Domain Version (public domain)

Love justice, you who judge the land. Think of the Lord in goodness and seek him in simplicity of heart. For he is found by those who do not test him, yet he reveals himself to those who have faith in him. For perverse thoughts separate from God. But his virtue, when it is tested, corrects the foolish. For wisdom will not enter into a malicious soul, nor dwell in a body subdued by sin. For the holy spirit of instruction will flee from falsehood, and he will withdraw himself from thoughts that are without understanding, and he will not be reached when iniquity overcomes. For the spirit of wisdom is benevolent, and will not release the evil speaker from his talk, because God is a witness of his temperament, and a true examiner of his heart, and an auditor of his words. For the spirit of the Lord has filled the world, and he who contains all things, retains knowledge of every voice.

R. Lord, hear our prayer.

For us, that we may stay until the Word becomes prayer.

R. Lord, hear our prayer.

Our Father

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Closing prayer

God of mercy, begin this day in us. We do not ask for a perfect record, only a faithful love. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Sign of the Cross

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
