5 Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary

The Luminous Mysteries illuminate the public life of Jesus — from the Jordan to the Upper Room — so that we may listen to him.

The five mysteries

1. 1. The Baptism in the Jordan

   The Father’s voice: “This is my beloved Son.” The Spirit rests upon him.

   Fruit: Openness to the Holy Spirit · Matthew 3:13–17

2. 2. The Wedding at Cana

   Mary says, “Do whatever he tells you,” and water becomes wine.

   Fruit: To Jesus through Mary · John 2:1–11

3. 3. The Proclamation of the Kingdom

   Jesus calls us to repent and believe the Gospel — the kingdom is at hand.

   Fruit: Conversion · Mark 1:14–15

4. 4. The Transfiguration

   On the mountain his glory shines; the Father says, “Listen to him.”

   Fruit: Desire for holiness · Matthew 17:1–8

5. 5. The Institution of the Eucharist

   At the Last Supper he gives his Body and Blood: “Do this in memory of me.”

   Fruit: Adoration · Luke 22:14–20
